EUFAULA, OK -- McIntosh County Sheriff Joe Hogan has resigned.

During a county commission meeting Monday morning, Sheriff Joe Hogan submitted his resignation effective immediately.

Hogan was appointed sheriff after former Sheriff Terry Jones and former Undersheriff Mykol Brookshire were charged with taking money from a motorist during a traffic stop. Both have since pleaded guilty and are serving prison terms.

County officials say Undersheriff Mike Daniels will be in charge of the sheriff's office until the June election.
