Ada Man Killed In Apparent DUI Accident

Michael A. Marquand, 36, of Ada was killed Friday on a county road just north of Ada. Troopers say he had been drinking when his car left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

PONTOTOC COUNTY, OKLAHOMA -- An Ada man was killed when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole just north of Ada in Pontotoc County. The accident happened at 6:20 p.m. Friday on a county road about a mile outside of town.

Michael A. Marquand, 36, was eastbound when his 1998 Mercury Sable ran off the road then overcorrected and ran off the highway. The car struck a utility pole and overturned three times coming to rest on its wheels.

Marquand was thrown about 96 feet from the car. Marquand had been drinking and was speeding at the time of the crash, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

He was not wearing a seatbelt.
