Man Tries To Rob Wendy's With Possible Toy Gun

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Witnesses said a man with what appeared to be a toy gun walked into a Wendy's in southwest Oklahoma City and tried to rob the fast food restaurant.

The man approached the cash register October 30 at the Wendy's located at 1414 S.W. 74th Street.  He pulled out what witnesses said looked like a silver toy revolver. The man ordered an employee to give him money or he would "start busting caps."

The employee refused to open the cash register, saying he did not believe the weapon was real. The suspect slammed the weapon on top of the cash register several times and kept demanding money, but all of the employees refused to give any to him. They said he became so frustrated, he left the restaurant.

Witnesses said once the man was outside, he fired a shot into the air. They said the shot sounded like a firecracker and was accompanied by a large puff smoke.

The suspect and an accomplice who never entered the restaurant were seen running toward an apartment complex.

Police retrieved surveillance video of the attempted robbery. The suspect was described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5'8 and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black beanie, blue bandana, green striped shirt, dark blue jeans and white shoes.
