TULSA, Oklahoma -- A national publication says there are two words for Oklahoma; Tornado Alley.

Oklahoma is ranked No. 6 among states that have suffered the biggest property losses from disasters such as floods, storms and wildfires over the past decade, according to Kiplinger.com.

The website used the data to name the top 10 states most at risk of disaster.

Louisiana topped the list, with an estimated $31.9 billion in insured property loss since 2001, following seven hurricanes, two tropical storms and other severe weather.

In Oklahoma, the past decade's estimated insured property loss is $5.3 billion.

Kiplinger.com says severe storms and twisters are so much a part of Oklahoma's weather that the National Severe Storms Laboratory and Storm Prediction Center is located in Norman.

Florida ranks No. 2, followed by Texas, New York and Mississippi. After Oklahoma, Alabama, California, Missouri and Ohio round out the top 10.
