Michael Konopasek joined NEWS 9 as a reporter in May 2011. His reports can be seen daily on NEWS 9 at 10.

Konopasek comes to Oklahoma City from Indiana, where he most recently worked as a reporter at WPTA-TV/WISE-TV in Fort Wayne. Born and raised in the Northwest Indiana suburbs of Chicago, Konopasek spent much of his youth in the towns of Griffith and Munster.

Michael is a proud graduate of Ball State University. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications and a minor in political science. During his time at Ball State, he worked in radio at WCRD-FM, WMDH-FM, and Indiana Public Radio. He also worked for the Muncie PBS affiliate, WIPB-TV, as a reporter and host of the long-running, Emmy award-winning television show, Connections Live. He officially began his television career, though, as an intern at ABC7 Chicago, WLS-TV before moving on to report for WTVW-TV in Evansville.

Konopasek has been awarded various honors, including those of national prominence. Along with two Emmy nominations for his work as a host on WIPB-TV, his reporting was also recognized by the Fox News Channel in 2010 with a monetary prize. Konopasek is also a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Konopasek is proud to be in the Sooner State and even has roots in Oklahoma. He has always enjoyed hearing about his grandfather's experiences in Ponca City during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl. In his free time, Michael also enjoys traveling, biking, and learning new things!
