TULSA, Oklahoma -- University of Tulsa backup quarterback Shavodrick Beaver told the News on 6 on Sunday afternoon that he was not leaving the team.
Rumors rose over the weekend suggesting that the incoming junior was ready to walk away from the Golden Hurricane.
"Nope, I'm still here," he told News On 6 reporter Bobby Lewis.
Beaver has played sparingly behind starter G.J. Kinne over the past two seasons. He went 4-for-6 for 62 yards and one interception through the air in 2010. He rushed for 102 yards on 20 carries as well, scoring once in a blowout win against Memphis.
Beaver had strong showings in all of the Tulsa scrimmages this spring. The Golden Hurricane begin the season on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners on Sept. 3.
