Legendary Sooner Quarterback Jimmy Harris Dies

Harris was one of only six quarterbacks in college history to lead a school to back-to-back titles.

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana – Legendary OU quarterback Jimmy Harris died early Tuesday morning in Shreveport, La. of lung cancer.

Harris was 76 years old.

He was famous for being the starting quarterback during much of OU's famous 47-game winning streak in the mid 1950s.

Harris was 25-0 as a starter for the Sooners and played for coach Bud Wilkinson.

The funeral is set for Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Shreveport.
