Oklahoma State fans were injured following OSU's sweeping win in Stillwater Saturday night.
Two people are in stable condition at an Oklahoma City hospital, and 8 others were injured when fans rushed to the field after the Cowboys won the Big 12 title.
Thousands of people ran on to the field and began tearing down the goal post. At least one person was trampled and another fell 15 feet onto concrete during the wild celebration.
Nine ambulances transported the injured fans to a Stillwater hospital. At least two of the injured in Stillwater will undergo surgery for broken ankles.
Two other fans were life flight transported to an Oklahoma City hospital. One was a student injured during the post-game celebration. The other was an adult who had a medical episode early in the second half.
It took police 45 minutes for police to clear the field. Number 3 Oklahoma State beat Oklahoma 44 to 10. The win also earned the Cowboys an automatic bid to a BCS Bowl.
Following is a statement from Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis:
"Our policy is that no unauthorized persons are allowed on the field at any time. It is clear. We stated the policy in a public address announcement toward the end of the game. Despite the efforts of the security team, fans rushed onto the field causing several injuries. We regret those injuries to a few fans on the field. While the majority of injuries were not serious, we are concerned about everyone, especially the student and fan who were transported to an Oklahoma City hospital for additional observation and treatment. The fan was transported for a medical event early in the second half. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone. Lastly, I want to recognize the extraordinary efforts of security and medical personnel. They did a fine job in a difficult situation as they provided swift medical attention to those in need."
