A piece of Sooner magic is headed overseas thanks to a soldier's mom. Mary says her son is a huge Sooner fan, so she came up with the idea to send him a football signed by University of Oklahoma stars including every living University of Oklahoma Heisman winner.

The ball is on its way to Afghanistan Friday evening, where some members of the 45th Infantry are stationed.

"I played football 30 years ago, and I still sign autographs, but these guys here, they're the ones that deserve all the credit," said Jimbo Elrod, former OU linebacker. Elrod graduated from East Central High School in Tulsa and was a member of the 1974 and 1975 National Championship football teams.

"This is amazing, this is beyond what I expected. It's not just here - take a football back to my son. This is take the football back to my son," said Staff Sergeant Erik Wolf of the 45th Infantry Combat Team.

Wolf is taking the football to Afghanistan.

Staff Sergeant Wolf says this signed football is just one of the many things that show the tremendous support for our troops here on the Homefront.
