News On 6 got reacquainted with a KOTV favorite, news anchor and reporter Bob Losure. He left us in 1986 and worked at CNN until 1997.
He was famous for his personal involvement in his stories.
In one of our "From the Vault" stories, we watch him making Easter candy with Betty Lloyd in her shop back in 1981.
Bob Losure: "That's a duck, right?"
Betty Lloyd: "No, that's a chicken."
Bob Losure: "Why do they call it a sucker mold?"
Betty Lloyd: "You got me there."
Bob had a way of not taking himself too seriously when he worked here from 1976 to 1985.
We have footage of him at a store called Toy City, trying to put together a Merry-go School bus – and not doing too well.
"This thing may be obsolete by the time we get through with it," said Bob Losure.
But they kept at it, and finally:
"Success, well, what do you know," Losure said.
Bob showed up for Thanksgiving dinner at a local hotel restaurant. The chef taught him to carve a turkey.
"This turkey never did stand a chance," Losure said.
Bob seemed to really enjoy his personal involvement in all these stories.
My favorite from among this batch of Bob Losure stories from the early 1980s: the circus was in town, and somebody said...elephant races.
All aboard!
"This is fun," Losure said.
I think he's fibbing.
Down the stretch they came - hang on cowboy!
Atta boy.
"I was holding on for dear life," Losure said. "It's like riding a wild bull."
Bob Losure anchored and reported at News On 6 from 1976 to 1985.
