The city of Owasso is getting a Sam's Club. That announcement was made Wednesday morning.
The Owasso Economic Development Authority met Wednesday to approve some infrastructure improvements associated with the development.
With Wednesday's announcement, the number of Sam's Club stores in the Tulsa area will grow to four.
The newest location is the northeast corner of U.S. Highway 169 at 96st Street North in Owasso.
The 136,000 square foot store will be located on 35 acres and is expected to generate between $1.8 to $2.2 million in sales tax revenue a year.
Infrastructure improvements are expected to cost $4.5 million, which the city of Owasso says Sam's will get back with the sales tax revenue over 6 years.
Wednesday's agreement now goes to the Owasso city council for its approval. The council is expected to approve it on April 17th.
Sam's Club normally only goes into a community of 100,000-plus, but they foresee a large consumer market coming up from Tulsa and the surrounding area.
No date was given for when the store would open.
