East Central High School's new football coach has been suspended with pay, according to Tulsa Public Schools Interim Athletic Director Gil Cloud.
Ben Bowling was arrested for driving under the influence after police say he fell asleep in his car in a Whataburger drive-thru lane on April 22.
Cloud said the coach's paid suspension is pending the results of a school district investigation. The AD expects the investigation to take about a week. A recommendation will then be made to Tulsa Public School Superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard.
Bowling's blood alcohol content was .203, more than twice the legal limit, according to the arresting officer.
Bowling was a Parade All-American quarterback at Jenks and was a member of the Oklahoma State University football team. He played in the Arena Football League from 2003-2008.
