The Oklahoma Sooners hosted their annual media day Saturday, as players and coaches took time to speak with local media members.
The Sooners were positive about the prospects for the 2012 season. Each one of them spoke about the desire of the team to move on from the disappointing 2011 season, which saw OU lose three games, and end up in the Insight Bowl, after being ranked No. 1 in the preseason.
Head coach Bob Stoops also announced wide receiver Kameel Jackson would not be returning to the team. Stoops said earlier in the week that Jackson's status would be reevaluated at the end of the summer session, but evidently made up his mind sooner than that.
The Sooners also hosted their annual Meet the Sooners Day in the morning, with fans able to meet the team members, and kids able to get autographs from their favorite players.
Be sure to stay tuned for much more coverage from today's interviews.
UPDATE:
ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting Penn State wide receiver Justin Brown has informed OU coaches of his intentions to transfer to Norman and join the Sooners. Brown, a senior from Wilmington, Delaware, will be eligible immediately due to the NCAA sanctions against Penn State football. Brown had 35 receptions for 517 yards last season for the Nittany Lions.
