News 9 Weather Team Updates On Snowfall Totals, Morning Conditions

Tuesday's Winter Storm produced some localized, hefty snowfall totals across western Oklahoma near the I-40 corridor.

Cheyenne, Erick, Woodward, Leedey, Mutual, Hinton, Kingfisher, Hobart and Altus all received between 4 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow. In fact, totals may have been higher, but a combination of above freezing ground temperatures and just barely cold enough air temperatures near the surface most likely cut down on overall snowfall accumulations.

Central and northern Oklahoma switched back in forth between a rain-snow mix during the early morning, before the air column cooled sufficiently enough to support all snow by mid to late morning. Snowfall totals in these areas, including Oklahoma City, were generally between 1 to 3 inches.

The air mass across the state will remain quite saturated overnight with drier air working into western parts of the state by morning. Because of the residual moisture left in place by the rain and snow, areas of fog and drizzle may develop and persist overnight into tomorrow morning's commute. Keep in mind, with temperatures at or below 32 degrees slick spots may develop on roadways - especially bridges and overpasses.
