Junior Achievement of Oklahoma's JA BizTown celebrated a milestone on Tuesday.
March 12, 2013 is the facility's 10th anniversary and it marked the event with a special ceremony featuring Oklahoma Secretary of Finance and Revenue Preston Doerflinger.
Junior Achievement says 75,000 students have participated in what's now known as JA BizTown, located at 3947 South 103rd East Avenue in Tulsa.
The program combines classroom concepts with real world applications at Junior Achievement's interactive JA BizTown facility. The idea is to help students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the world outside of the classroom, according to a news release about the event.
"Over the past ten years Junior Achievement has gone to great lengths to keep JA BizTown fresh, from employing actual business sponsorships, to networked computers, video and sound," said Shannan Beeler, president of Junior Achievement of Oklahoma. "We are thankful for our continued community support to empower young people to own their economic success."
