A Tulsa man was shot multiple times on Wednesday morning as he was taking out his trash, police said.
The shooting took place in the 3300 block of North Garrison shortly before 7:30 a.m.
Officers found 32-year-old Anthony Dejuan Campbell dead next to a driveway. Investigators on the scene said they found several shell casings from a small- to medium-caliber semiautomatic pistol.
Campbell was taking out the trash when a 6-foot, stocky black male in a black hat and black hooded sweatshirt approached and the two argued, according to TPD Sgt. Dave Walker.
Gunfire erupted, Campbell was killed, and the other man left in a sport utility vehicle, Walker said.
Several family members, including Campbell's son, were inside the home and heard the gunshots.
Chaplain Lemuel Taylor spoke to the son.
"His son is processing right now," Taylor said. "We're just here to try and show love and comfort and help him through this time."
Investigators found multiple shell casings at the scene.
Family and friends mostly just have questions.
"Who would do this, why would they do this?" Taylor said. "There's still shock, I guess, in any situation like this, Why him, you know?"
Police said is too soon in the investigation to speculate on motive or if Campbell knew the shooter.
According to online records, Campbell was a convicted felon and spent time in prison for weapons and drug convictions.
Police are still looking to identify his killer and anyone who may have been riding in the tan-or pewter-colored SUV. If you have any information about the case, call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS, or text 918TIP to "Crimes."
Campbell is the victim of Tulsa's 22nd homicide of 2013.
