A Tulsa man was arrested Friday, accused of strangling a woman.

Tulsa Police, EMSA, and Tulsa Fire Department were called around 5 p.m. to an apartment in the 2800 block of South 116th East Avenue to help a woman who was reportedly not breathing.

First responders attempted and failed to resuscitate the victim, identified by police as Ashley Brizendine, 23.

Investigators say an infant and two toddlers were in the apartment, along with 23-year-old Brian Xavier Harris.

Harris was taken into custody and questioned, while detectives say they applied for a search warrant.

After some investigation, police arrested Harris on a complaint of first-degree murder. Records show he was booked into jail at 10:41 p.m.

Police say it appears Brizendine was strangled to death, but the official cause of death will be determined by the state Medical Examiner.

Court records show Harris was previously convicted of domestic assault and battery in November 2012.
