Portions Of Oklahoma Receive Above Average Rainfall

Our amazing summer pattern of below average temperatures and above average rainfall continues Tuesday with several locations receiving generous amounts. In general, central and eastern portions of the state, particularly along I-40, received the most rain with totals ranging from 1 to nearly 3 ½ inches.

While much of this rain fell in areas that have already been removed from the drought monitor, other areas such as west central Oklahoma did see some nice rain as well. The latest drought monitor will be released on Thursday, and it will include any rain that fell through 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. I do expect some improvements in western Oklahoma, but more rain is needed especially in southwest parts of the state and the panhandle.

Rain chances, although not as widespread, will continue through Friday with high temperatures in the 80s in most areas.
