Carina Saunders' Parents Speak Out Two Years Following Her Murder

It's been almost two years since the discovery of one of Oklahoma's most brutal crimes, yet, police seem no closer to solving Carina Saunders' murder today than they were right after it happened.

Saunders' parents, Richard Saunders and Margie Queen, have hung on every detail of the investigation, and now, out of frustration, they're sharing their thoughts and concerns about the case.

"When you're putting your trust into police and the OSBI or whoever you are just frustrated because you feel alone in your pain," Queen said," I'm trusting these people to do their job to the best of their ability and we just feel it's not being done."

Margie Queen and Richard Saunders say they've waited patiently since October 2011, when Bethany Police recovered their daughter's body dismembered in duffle bags in a field near N.W. 23rd and Rockwell.

Bethany Police claim they worked more than 1000 leads in the case.

"As long as it took I was okay with it because that meant to me they were doing everything in their power," Queen explained two suspects were eventually arrested and charged with Saunders' murder.

Six months ago, they were cleared of the crime due to insufficient evidence and Bethany turned the case over to the OSBI.

"I think the OSBI should've had it from the beginning," Richard Saunders said he feel the Bethany Police Department was too small of an agency and lacked the resources to investigate the high profile crime.

Now the parents feel like they are back at square one. The OSBI says they're actively working the case and have devoted 100 man hours to the investigation.

"It's difficult when you get a case that is a year and half old," Jessica Brown, OSBI spokersperson said," we are going to do the best we can and that's all we can do is the best we can."

The parents said they've yet to hear of any progress the OSBI has made.

"When OSBI took over I was hopeful because they had all that info and I just can't believe they don't have something concrete."

The OSBI says state law prevents them from sharing details of an ongoing investigation with the victim's family or anyone else. At this point, no suspects have been identified.
