Glenpool City Manager Announces Retirement

Glenpool City Manager Ed Tinker has announced his retirement. The announcement came following a special session of the Glenpool City Council on Thursday night.

Tinker's retirement will be effective January 13, 2014.

The city saw a great deal of growth under Tinker's leadership which began in 2007. During that time, the Super Walmart led the way to an increased retail tax base for the city, by attracting restaurants and other businesses to the Highway 75 corridor at 121st Street South.

Glenpool's City Hall and Conference Center was built in the same area, and a new fire department headquarters was built at South Elwood and 146th Street.

Tinker spoke in a retirement announcement of the changes that took place since he took the helm six years ago.

"Glenpool is a different place today," he said. "A place I'm proud to call home. A place I intend to still call home after my retirement."

Glenpool's sales tax extension failed by a narrow margin in October, 2013.

Tinker's brother Mike is city manager of the neighboring city Jenks.
