Police say a Tulsa man turned himself in for stabbing his mother to death Saturday night. Arthur Lee Devaughn was arrested on a first degree murder complaint in the death of Glenda Castaneda, 51.
Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker said Devaughn called EMSA at 8:45 p.m. February 8, 2014, and said he had killed his mother at an address in the 6200 block of North Cheyenne.
Walker said Devaughn, 25, called from a different location but was walking outside the home on Cheyenne when police arrived. He had blood on his clothing, according to police.
Officers searched the residence and found the body of Castaneda inside. They say she had injuries around her face and head.
Police believe the mother and son got into an argument. There was evidence of a struggle, and Castaneda was stabbed to death, Walker said in a news release.
"Enough evidence was collected to arrest Devaughn for first degree murder," Walker said.
A check of Oklahoma prison records shows that Devaughn has a record of aggravated assault and battery, burglary and arson. He was released from prison in June of 2012 but was still on probation for the arson charge.
Castaneda's death is Tulsa's fourth murder of 2014.
