City crews are working hard to fix a 30-inch water main break on North Harvard, but it's been a struggle. They hoped to have the problem fixed by Wednesday morning but a new problem means some residents are without water for a second day.

The 30-inch line burst around 1 a.m. Tuesday, and a city official said the reason was increased water pressure due to extreme heat.

Despite some workers being on scene for over 12 hours before being relieved around 7 a.m., about 40 homes are still without water.

Workers are now having to replace a valve at Harvard and Independence. Traffic is down to one lane in one area and closed completely from Latimer to Newton.

The city was reluctant to give a timeline for repairs but hopes to have the problem fixed by the end of the day Wednesday.

If you are affected by the break, there is a water truck set up on Newton, just east of Harvard. If you've had problems with flooding due to city water, call 918-596-9488.
