Tulsa Zoo Announces Passing Of Newborn Giraffe

Thursday, the Tulsa Zoo announced the passing of a newborn giraffe.

According to their Facebook page, Lexi, a seven-year-old Rothschild giraffe gave birth around 5 p.m. Thursday.

They said the calf was born weak and while their animal health and animal care staff worked to perform life-saving measures, the calf was unable to survive.

The calf is the fourth giraffe to pass in the last five years at the Tulsa Zoo; the calf's father, Samburu passed away last year.
