Transport Of Giant Object In Broken Arrow Now Set For Saturday

The transport of an oversized load originally scheduled for last weekend is now set to begin on Saturday, October 18, 2014.  

Northwest Logistics Heavy Haul is the company handling the move. The object being moved is a 186-foot long demethanizer from Exterran in Broken Arrow to a gas processing plant in Fort Lupton, Colorado. The structure weighs 536,600 pounds. It will be a moved on a specially designed pulled by two trucks in front and pushed by two trucks in back. The whole set-up will be 427 feet long and weigh more than 1.1 million pounds.

The intersection of Highway 51 and East Houston could be closed for up to 30 minutes while the load clears the grade. That closure will take place around 7 a.m..

The route will require the disabling of the traffic signal at 9th and New Orleans as well. Broken Arrow Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will escort the load.

Once out of Broken Arrow, the demethanizer will pass through Bixby, Glenpool, Sapulpa, Mannford, Cushing before going around Enid and through Woodward. It will exit Oklahoma at Liberal, Kansas as it makes its way to Colorado.

Johnny Mefferd, the operations manager for Northwest Logistics, said the move should take about 14 days, as long as the weather is good.
