Driver Arrested In Fatality Wreck Near Glenpool

A driver from Mounds was arrested for manslaughter after authorities say he killed a passenger in another car while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Artussee Mitchell Fields, 30, is being held on a $51,100 bond.

Glenpool Police arrested Fields just before 1:30 a.m. when they say he ran a stop sign while crossing U.S. Highway 75 going westbound on 181st Street. Fields was behind the wheel of a GMC Yukon that struck a northbound Dodge Charger in the passenger side.

"Artussee admitted to drinking five to six beers prior to the accident, had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet," the arresting officer said in his report.

Fields is also being held on complaints of driving under the influence of alcohol and running the stop sign.
