With upgrades and new animal exhibits for park-goers to enjoy, things are changing every day at Tulsa’s Big Splash Water Park.

On the outside things don't look very different, but inside is a different story. And all the work being done is in anticipation of a big announcement coming soon.

As water pours from the master blaster, Big Splash's newest tenants are just feet away, munching on some grass.

Park-goer Kiersten Stevens said, "As soon as I got up there I looked over and said 'oh they have new turtles.'”

"I loved the turtles! They were so cute. I named both of them,” Bella Collins said. “Burtle and Bernabartle."

Turns out, they already have names - Shelly and Sheldon - and the tortoises will soon have company as birds will be added near the front gates.

"I think it's really good for the kids to have the animals there because it's also an educational thing too. They kept pulling me back to see the turtles," said Leslie Townsend.

Park Manager, Amber Woessner said, "There's no place in Oklahoma that has that, so we will be one of the first."

The wave pool area is also getting an upgrade with new carpet and chairs; and just feet away, parents can enjoy the Landshark Cantina where no kids are allowed.

"You want to come out and bring your kids. We think the adults deserve something a little extra for bringing them out," Woessner said.

And you can't miss the palm trees, all over the park.

Woessner said, "Not everyone can get out of Tulsa to go to the beach to see palm trees, so we thought why not bring that here for our customers."

And there are several more changes to come, according to Woessner.

"There's a lot of little changes happening, but when you add it up, it makes a big difference," she said.

Townsend said, "They are cleaning it up and making it look a lot better."

There is a reason for all the changes, but it can't be announced just yet.

As soon as it can, we will let you know.
