A Bixby native well known for earning a coveted top seven spot on The Voice is taking his talents on the road to help military families.
A Folds of Honor Concert series kicks off next month and features Oklahoman Corey Kent White.
When White takes the stage, especially in his hometown, the crowd goes wild.
“Man, it feels good to be home. Welcome to Bixby, Oklahoma!”
He has performed with Willie Nelson and just wrapped touring as an opening act for Toby Keith.
Kent’s passion is writing and singing music, though, he's adding another to his list, advocating for the military families.
“I've always had a profound respect for the military,” he said.
He is partnering with Folds of Honor, a nonprofit foundation that helps provide educational scholarships to children or spouses of those killed or disabled while serving our country.
“Allows us to give to those family members and put our arms around them and say, 'We know what you've been through and we stand with you and we believe freedom's not free,’” Folds of Honor Director of Corporate Partnerships Jeremy Durtschi said.

Kent will headline the Folds of Honor Concert Series, which kicks off on Jan. 23 at the historic Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa.
Four other shows will follow, and a portion of all tickets and merchandise sales will go to Folds of Honor.
“If we can help somebody who doesn't have that opportunity to at least open up the possibility for them to go to school, then I think that's a very noble cause,” Kent said.
The goal is to raise $50,000. It is money that could make a big difference to those military family members who carry the heavy burden of sacrifice.
“I think that we can change lives with music and if can do something bigger than ourselves to give back to people, then that's what it's all about,” he said.
