Bass Pro Shops Reportedly Preparing Bid To Buy Cabela's

Two outdoor worlds could soon become one. Bass Pro Shops is said to be preparing a bid to buy Cabela's.

The move was first rumored in November. Now we learned the purchase may now be in sight. 

While most hunting may be an individual sport, Bass Pro Shops is said to be teaming up with Goldman Sachs to make an offer for Cabela's. Sources familiar with the situation told Reuters the sale process is still in the early stages. But late last year, Cabela's announced the company was looking at a sale.

Bass Pro instantly became a favorite. And while Bass Pro and Goldman do face some bidding competition, Reuters reports this partnership gives the firm the necessary equity to buy Cabela's.

Now Cabela's has roughly 80 stores in 36 states, including one in Oklahoma City. Bass Pro and Cabela's did not respond to requests for comment, while Goldman declined to comment.
