An investigation is underway involving one of America's most iconic photos.
The Marine Corps is taking a closer look at an image that's grown to become symbolic of America's military. We're talking about the photo of six service members raising a U.S. flag at Iwo Jima during World War II.
The Marines say they're now going to re-examine the identities of the men. This comes after two amateur history buffs began raising doubts about one of the men, identified as Navy Corpsman John Bradley.
In fact, they don't think it's Bradley at all. Instead, they believe it's a man named Harold Henry Schultz of Detroit, and have listed several reasons why.
The Marines have not said how long it will take to complete their investigation.
