Surveillance Images Show Plane in 'Flat Spin'

Surveillance cameras outside a Houston hardware store show moments before a plane piloted by an Oklahoma woman crashed into a parked car Thursday. 

Dana Gray, of Moore, piloted the Cirrus SR-20. Her husband Tony and his brother Jerry were also on board. All three died in the crash. Their plane left Norman shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday, with a final destination set for the Houston Hobby airport.

Friday, a National Transportation Safety Board investigator says the pilot halted a third attempt to land just before the aircraft plummeted to the ground. 

NTSB investigator Tom Latson said Friday it's unclear if the pilot made a distress call just before the crash.

Security cameras at an Ace Hardware store show the plane in a "flat spin" before the crash. Due to the graphic nature of the images, News 9 has chosen not to air the entire video out of respect for the family. Still photos captured from the video reveal moments from that video.

Latson said the initial information indicates the pilot didn't make any other calls to air traffic controllers after she waved off the third landing attempt. 

Air traffic control audio indicates controllers told the female pilot she was flying too high and has to turn around to land at Hobby Airport.  

The pilot can be heard nervously laughing as she says, "Trying to get down again." An air traffic controller says "no problem." Just before the crash, a traffic controller says: "Ma'am, ma'am, straighten up, straighten up."
