Another private vocational college has closed its doors, leaving students confused and frustrated.
Heritage College near Plaza Mayor in south Oklahoma City is the third school to go under since March.
“I don’t know what to do now,” said Donna Murdock.
Murdock was about to graduate from Heritage College and become a medical decoder. She thinks she spent $30,000 on her Heritage College education.
“I’m upset because I don’t get nothing out of it,” she said.
After Wright College and ITT Tech closed its doors earlier this year, Oklahoma lawmakers called for an interim study help to solve the problem.
“We are looking at speeding up information. Will that help? Or do we need more tools to regulate more strongly?” said Nora House, the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools director.
House is urging students to contact the Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools and the Denver-based Heritage College to release transcripts as soon as possible.
“It could be a week or two like past closure, but hopefully it’s sooner than a week or two,” said House, who thinks Heritage had around 300 students.
If you are a Heritage Student, you are asked to contact the OBPVS so it can better coordinate getting students transcripts and other information.
The OBPVS can be reached at (405) 528-3370. You can also email angela.moore@obpvs.ok.gov.
