The Yale Police Department is one of many agencies that helped search for Sarah Lewis and her children.

News On 6 was there when Assistant Chief Ken Moore got word the children were found safely, and you could see the look of relief on his face.

The Yale P.D. became involved when Delaware County investigators learned Lewis had come to town with her children to stay with a friend.

Deputies say Lewis stayed overnight at a house in Yale Tuesday night.

But when Payne County deputies and Yale officers went to that house, they said Lewis was gone.

Assistant Chief Moore said when it comes to Amber Alerts, it takes a team effort to make sure children are found safely.

“In a situation like this, law enforcement works completely together,” Moore stated. “What agencies doesn't matter. The goal is the safety of the children.”

He also said the public plays a huge role in bringing successful ends to Amber Alerts.
