A former Tulsa police officer was arrested Thursday on complaints of sex crimes against children.
Broken Arrow Police say Noel McFadden, 70, was molesting children in his Broken Arrow neighborhood near Elm and Kenosha, less than half of a mile from Arrowhead Elementary School.
Officers say McFadden lured kids to his home with gifts and candy.
"He was known to give gifts to small children in the neighborhood," said Det. Eric Bentz with Broken Arrow Police. "He would also give out candy and ice cream. As horrible as that sounds, people just want to trust their neighbors."
Officers say McFadden would get to know the families and gain their trust by being visible in the neighborhood.
"He's out a lot talking to the parents and kids, just being active in the neighborhood, and maybe using that statement of being prior law enforcement to gain people's trust and attention," said Detective Eric Bentz with Broken Arrow Police
Then, officers said, McFadden would touch the children inappropriately.
News On 6 was the only station there as McFadden was led into jail, turning away to avoid showing his face.
McFadden has eight counts of child sex abuse complaints against him for the crimes he committed against two victims, a five-year-old and an eight-year-old, who lived nearby.
In addition to working for Tulsa Police, McFadden also served as the Health and Public Safety officer for Tulsa International Airport.
Officers said McFadden not only touched the children's private body parts, he exposed his own genitals to them, and showed them sexual videos.Officers also found child pornography in McFadden's possession.
Broken Arrow Police say it's likely there are more victims who have not yet come forward.
