Police identified the body of a woman found in a dumpster behind a Tulsa restaurant at 3rd and Zunis Tuesday morning.
Tulsa police said the body is that of 43-year-old Amy Robertson. They believe she died sometime between 9:00 Monday evening and 8:00 Tuesday morning.
Sergeant Dave Walker said the investigation focused on Robertson's relationship with 52-year-old Gumercindo Jurado. Police said Robertson and Jurado were homeless and many witnesses said they fought often.
Police eventually located Jurado at 300 South Utica and arrested him on a warrant of public intoxication. Jurado denied being responsible for the woman's death, Walker said.
Walker said they interviewed Jurado but determined there was not enough evidence to arrest him.
Police said they are continuing to search for witnesses that may have more information.
Walker said restaurant employees discovered what police believe is a blood trail on a concrete walkway in front of the restaurant around 8 a.m.
"Employees got here around eight and discovered a pool of blood. They followed a trail to the dumpster where they located the body and called police," Walker said.
The area is a known hangout for the homeless; neighbors tell police a house just across from the crime scene is where many people in the area stay off and on.
Police are unsure at this time how the woman died -they said there were no visible gunshots or knife wounds - but police did say she didn’t die of natural causes.
"The amount of blood in the area and the fact that it was drug into the dumpster is all we really need to know at this point," Walker said.
They ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS, or the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477.
