Hundreds of students at Tulsa Public Schools begin state testing Wednesday morning after after a seven-day delay because of the statewide teacher walkout. Tulsa Public Schools says it needs 800 people to monitor students during the test, and even with the available staff they have right now, they still need several hundred volunteers.

The state delayed and expanded the testing window - so now, the district has until next Friday for students to take the paper assessment and until May 4th for those taking the web version.

During this time, district leaders say they're hoping to see people in the community step up and offer their help.

"We're really pulling together to provide enough people to try and help cover the number of proctors needed, but it's still going to mean we need help from faith-based partners, volunteers and parents to help fill that gap," said Erin Lester, Tulsa Public Schools testing coordinator.

TPS says they've asked administrators and support staff to proctor exams which they also had to do for last week's SAT.
