The Kansas, Oklahoma Police Department is trying to ease concerns after some possible threats were made against the high school.
News On 6 has received several messages and calls from worried parents who have heard rumors that some students were planning a threat.
The police department has heard the same and Police Chief Mike Wilkerson took to social media to address the rumors.
Wilkerson said, "We and the staff at the school are very aware and have plans in place." He didn't go into detail about what kind threat had been made but said they take any threats seriously.
The chief said he couldn't go into the precautions and plans.
He also used the post to petition for a school resource officer saying he'd love to have an officer at the school every day but it's not in the district's budget. Wilkerson said he hopes people will make donations so the district can hire a school resource officer.
He ended the post with a promise the department would do everything in their power to keep children safe.
Reinforced officers have taken measures to help prevent any problems.
