Clean-up in Fairfax will continue when the sun comes up after a tornado hit the Osage County community Sunday night. The National Weather Service rated it as a "high-end" EF-0 tornado.

Volunteers have worked all day to clean up the damage, and there is lots of it. They tell me they've got a lot done, but there is still plenty left to do.

Volunteers, crews, and emergency responders help to clean up the damage from the tornado that ripped through town.

"Everybody has been out cleaning up - by comparison to last night it's just a miracle," said Carol Connor.

"It wasn't the physical damage, but it was kind of mental damage because it's hard for me to see my little town go down like this," said Taytum Kelly.

Osage SkyNews 6 HD shows debris left behind from the many historic commercial buildings along Main Street.  Clyde Moore's owns the hardware store.

He says the storm took him by surprise.

"People have just been working like crazy up and down the street all day long," said business owner Clyde Moore.

First responders from neighboring towns also helped with the clean-up effort.

"The amount of people that came to help us today and last night - it is overwhelming," said Fairfax Fire Chief Steven Kizziar.

"It is really nice to know that you can trust your neighbors in need."

Neighbors say this town may be down, but it's no where close to being out.

"We're close, all of us pretty much, so we all work together which makes it easier," Taytum Kelly said.

"There are probably buildings that won't make it, but everybody will do everything they can to get things back up and running as quickly as possible," said Carol Connor.

People in Fairfax have wrapped up their clean up efforts for the night, but plan to continue Tuesday.
