Police now confirm one person is dead after an employee at a grocery store held a co-worker at gunpoint in Cherryvale, Kansas.
Officials arrived at the G&W Foods store after they received reports that there was a man with a gun inside the Cherryvale store.
When officials got to the store Monday, they learned the man with a gun was an employee and he was holding a co-worker hostage in one of the offices.
The other employees and the customers in the store were told to evacuate.
Soon after that, they heard gunshots from the office.
The 28 year-old suspect shot a 39 year-old co-worker and then shot himself. The suspect died at the hospital and the victim was sent to the hospital but officials say he is expected to survive.
It's unclear what led up to the shooting.
The Cherryvale Police Department released a statement saying "Due to an incident at G&W Foods, the store will be closed indefinitely while an Investigation is being done."
