The Tulsa Police Department will receive a donation to help keep officers safer on the streets.
Tulsa's Chapman Foundation donated $50,000 to outfit 33 Tulsa officers with rifle-rated ballistic armor.
The foundation is working with the non-profit organization Shield616, which a Colorado man found after being in involved in a deadly active shooting 12 years ago.
The non-profit helps get first responders the gear they need and also provides emotional support and encouragement throughout the year.
Shield616 will present 33 armor packages to Tulsa police officers Wednesday night. It includes a ballistics helmet, a standalone rifle plate, a plate carrier vest and a trauma kit.
The non-profit says the armor will be replaced every five years at no cost to any first responder or department.
Shield616 operates in 18 states, but this a first in Oklahoma.
The presentation is set for 6 o'clock tonight at the Kirk of the Hills Church in Tulsa.
