OKLAHOMA CITY - One person has died following a stabbing Monday afternoon in Southwest Oklahoma City.

According to Oklahoma City Police, officers were called to the stabbing in the 1400 block of Southwest 45th Street.

Police said the victim, identified as Aaron Defendini, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and died a short time later. Soon after, a male suspect was taken into custody. Police identified the suspect as Dennis Mooney.

“They saw a group of women and then they seen two guys out there, arguing. I guess they thought they were playing, but they were actually fighting,” says Susann Gress, who lives next door.

Police said they learned there was an ongoing dispute between Mooney and Defendini.

“Investigators are working to put the pieces of the puzzle together, but right now what we do know is some kind of disturbance broke out here in the neighborhood. It was in the course of the disturbance that the victim was stabbed,” says OCPD Officer Travis Vernier.

Neighbors said they’ve heard arguments come from the home before.

“My uncle and my grandpa were here, they came and they said that they seen a couple of women out there, a group of women out there,” said Gress.

Mooney was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of murder in the first degree.

Anyone with information regarding this case should call the Homicide tip-line at (405) 297-1200.
