Broken Arrow Police found an explosive device inside a car during a traffic stop as part of a shoplifting investigation.
Police arrested one person for having the device and another for shoplifting.
Investigators worked for hours on January 24 to take care of the explosive the Broken Arrow Police Officer found.
Officer Chris Walker with the Broken Arrow Police Department said the Tulsa Police Department's Bomb Squad was called in.
"It's pretty scary, you know we don't know if it is a device and if it is a device what it is capable of doing," Walker said.
Because the car was stopped on Kenosha Street just east of 209th East Avenue, officers were forced to block traffic in both lanes.
"Well the number one thing is shutting it down and keeping people safe," Walker said.
Walker said the explosive was rendered safe by Tulsa's Bomb Squad. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
The two people who were arrested have not yet been identified by police.
