A man is in jail on Friday morning after Tulsa police say he stole a car from an apartment complex with two children in the backseat. Police say they also arrested the children's mother.
Officers were called to the complex after the children's mother told police that she left her car running with her 11-month-old and two-year-old inside and a man got in and drove off.
Tulsa Police deployed officers on the ground and through the air to start a city-wide search for the suspect and children.
According to Investigators, a witness called 911 and reported the car and children had been dropped off near West Pine and the Tisdale.
Police say the children are now safe, but officers made another discovery when talking with their mother. Police say they arrested the mother, Charmagne Gray, for child endangerment and public intoxication.
Police say Tony Davis later returned to where he dropped the car off and admitted to taking it without knowing the kids were in the backseat.
Currently, Davis is facing two kidnapping charges in addition to a charge for stealing the car.
Police say DHS is working to find a safe place for the children to stay.
