Temps on Wednesday start off in the 30s, but we are expected to climb higher and higher throughout the day.
What is the weather like on Wednesday?
A few locations in northwest Oklahoma are below freezing, and several areas are seeing frost and freeze advisories as we enter the midweek. Be sure to dress in layers for adequate protection from the elements.
In the Oklahoma City metro, we're seeing temps in the lower to mid-40s as the morning continues, but we should expect temps in the 60s by Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures continue to warm into the 70's through the weekend.
Remember that the drought is still a big problem, and the fire danger remains a concern. We need rain!
What does the weather look like for the rest of this week?
Highs will be in the 60s for a couple of days. We will slowly warm back into the mid-70s by the weekend.
Saturday, there is a potential for some much-needed rain as a system moves in from the southwest.
Our next rainmaker arrives this weekend. The data on rain chances is still a mess. Right now, the chances range from 20 to 30 percent.
EMSA HEAT SAFETY TIPS
-HYDRATION is key in preventing heat-related illness. Drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours before and during long exposure to the summer heat.
Wear light-colored, loose fitting clothing and a wide-brimmed hat if working outdoors, and take plenty of shade breaks.
No alcohol or caffeine.
If you do not have air conditioning, find a cooling station or public space (such as libraries or malls) during the day.
Don’t limit your use of air conditioning.
Use the buddy system if working outdoors and check on elderly neighbors.
Keep a cellphone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, running daily errands, yard work or sports and physical activity.
