STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Former Oklahoma State athletic director Jim Garner has died at the age of 63.

University officials say Garner died at his home in Tucson, Arizona, after suffering health problems following the removal of a benign brain tumor in August 2005.

Garner was also athletic director at Appalachian State where in 1983 he hired current Texas coach Mack Brown to his first head coaching job.

Garner was athletic director at OSU from 1990 to 1993

Services are planned Saturday in Tucson.
