Ever want to send your dog off to camp for a day or an even a longer stay? You can at a new place, called Camp Bow Wow. The News On 6's Rick Wells reports it's open every day, only for dogs and just in time for the summer travel season.
Camp Bow Wow opened a few weeks ago. The camp director is Amy Nichols-Walters.
"We have 58 cabins," said Amy Nichols-Walters.
Some may call them kennels, but this is camp so they're called cabins. And, if you have more than one dog they can all stay together.
There are three play areas for the dogs. Each one is indoor/outdoor.
"For every 15 dogs there's an employee. We could have as many as 100 dogs during the day," said Amy Nichols-Walters.
So, how does someone working in corporate America decide to open a boarding facility?
"I used to be a customer," said Amy Nichols-Walters.
She said she survived three threatened layoffs at the company she was working for and decided she'd had enough and bought a Camp Bow Wow franchise.
The camp is open every day of the year, including holidays. They also have six webcams so they can monitor the play areas and owners on vacation can log on and watch their dog play.
The camp also has a special spot near the front door called the dog house.
