Megan Gold can be seen weekend mornings on News On 6. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Megan knows just how important the weather is to Oklahomans. The “weather bug” bit her at just six years old. While most kids watched cartoons on the weekends, Megan would tune in to
local tv to watch the weather. She has wanted to be a meteorologist ever since.
Megan comes to us from the University of Oklahoma where she studied meteorology and broadcast journalism. While attending OU, she was involved in OU Nightly, the university’s student-produced daily newscast. She helped lead the weather team and worked behind the
scenes in the show production.
Volunteering and giving back to the community have always been important to Megan. While at OU, she served her sorority, Pi Beta Phi, as VP of Philanthropy and held positions in Soonerthon and President’s Community Scholars. But the cause nearest and dearest to her
heart is championing young students to become involved in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) studies. During the past couple of years, she has held the titles of Miss Tulsa and Miss Bricktown in the Miss Oklahoma Organization.
Megan landed her first job as a part-time meteorologist in Denison, Texas when she was just a sophomore in college. She gained experience forecasting everything from hurricanes to winter weather for Southeastern Oklahoma and Northeast Texas. Her second job took her to
Springfield, Mo. where she gained even more experience forecasting weather for the Plains. Megan is excited to be back home in Oklahoma with the News On 6 team!
