Haley Weger joined the News 9 team as a multimedia journalist in August 2022. She now works as the Capitol Reporter, reporting on legislative issues statewide. When Haley isn't at the state capitol, she is on general assignment covering everything from crime to feature stories. During her time in OKC, she covered elections, severe weather, executions, and more.
She came to OKC from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Haley began her career as a producer and multi-media reporter, then transitioned to a morning anchor position. While she was in Louisiana, Haley covered an array of news topics, including multiple hurricanes on the coast.
Haley was born and raised in Texas and spent most of her life in Friendswood, Texas, a suburb of Houston. She attended Friendswood High School, then moved to the Sooner State and began studying at the University of Oklahoma.
Haley earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from OU with a broadcast focus. While she was in college, she was a member of the OU Pom Squad, where she got to dance at OU football and basketball games and participated in various community appearances.
She was also involved in the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication’s student newsroom, OU Nightly. This was where Haley continued to fall in love with journalism and TV news, and gave her a chance to learn all of the aspects of the job.
