An Oklahoma judge has ruled that the man accused of fatally stabbing his father and former state labor commissioner be evaluated by a state medical expert. 

Oklahoma took a step forward in mental health reform as Gov. Mary Falin signed the "Mark Costello Act" into law. 

A bill that would allow the courts to step in if those with mental illness are not taking their medication passes unanimously in state the House of Representatives. 

It's estimated 22 percent of Oklahomans suffer with some form of mental illness. 

The state Senate has passed a bill that would allow for court ordered outpatient treatment for the mentally ill.
