When all you’ve known for decades is destroyed, some say it’s tough to find a place to start. Volunteers at a home in Vici are taking it one thing at a time, picking up what once stood on veteran and retired educator Dale Liston Jr’s property. It’s been in the family since the 40’s.
Cleanup is underway in Vici after wildfires burned 30 homes.
The largest wildfire in the state has spread 34,000 acres in just last 24 hours. According to the Oklahoma Forestry Service, the Rhea Fire in Dewey County has now burned more than 283,095 acres total.
Right now, many counties across that state are still under a fire weather watch effective until Tuesday.
As the wildfire danger in Western Oklahoma continues, the town of Vici in Dewey County is now in recovery mode.
