OKMULGEE, OK -- The Muscogee Creek Nation held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for its new college campus.
The new College of the Muscogee Nation will be located on 15 acres in Okmulgee, just southeast of the tribal complex.
The tribe's casino revenue and a HUD grant are funding the first of four buildings on the campus.
The new building will include unique design features symbolic to the Muscogee Creek Nation and will reflect the tribe's appreciation for nature.
"This is a commitment that education is a top priority now with the tribe and it will be here forever," said Robert Bible, College of the Muscogee Nation.
The first building should be completed and ready for classes by next spring.
